Sandro Meo has an intense concert career as well as international cello and chamber music professor. He was the founder and principal cello of Philharmonia Mediterranea Orchestra, with which he faced the main lyrical-symphonic repertoire as well as the solos one.
He regularly perform worldwide, giving concerts in the most prestigious world’s concert halls such as Carnegie Hall and Frick Collection in New York, Library of Congress in Washington, Wigmore Hall and St. John’s Smith Square in London, Musikhalle in Hamburg, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Curtis Institute in Philhadelphia, Da Camera Society in Los Angeles, Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto and Melbourne, Oberlin College (Ohio), Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht, Vredenburg in Utrecht, deSingel in Antwerp, Festival Classique in The Hague, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Amici della Musica in Florence, Festival Le Notti bianche in Saint Petersburg, Unione Musicale in Turin, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti in Rome, Bologna Festival, Pergolesi Spontini Festival in Jesi etc.
Sandro Meo appeared in several television and radio world brodcasts. His recording activity ranges from the classical experience on period instruments, to the symphonic, operatic and solo repertoires till the contemporary music.
He recorded a world premiere CD of the F. Saverio Mercadante Fantasia sulla Lucia di Lammermour, published by Warner-Fonit.
As a member of the Italian Piano Quartet Sandro recorded the complete edition on the J. Brahms piano quartets published by the Italian label Symphonia.
He is one of the founders of Voces Intimae: their CDs are award-winnings. They recorded works of the main chamber repertoire such as J.N. Hummel, F. Schubert, F. Mendelsshon-Bartholdy and R. Schumann. They recorded in Bologna, Pisa, Berlin and Leipzig, and published by Symphonia, Pan Classics, Warner Classics e Challenge Classics. Those CDs have been awarded Critics CD of the year 2006 and CD of the week by BBC, Choice of the Month by BBC Music Magazine and Cdécisif by Radio Suisse Romande. At the moment he records for Challenge Classics label.
He gives master classes in Italy, Spain and USA and he has been member in important national and international competition juries.
He is the Regional Delegate of the Progetto di Orchestre Infantili e Giovanili promoted by C. Abbado and J. Abreu. From 1986 he teaches cello at the Cosenza Conservatory of Music.
